Information & Frequently Asked Questions
What is Assisted Living?
At St. Joseph's Residence, residents can rest easy knowing there is support with their activities of daily living (ADLs). Our dedicated staff provides daily meals, laundry, and housekeeping, as well as medication management, so residents can focus less on the tasks of daily life and more on living it.
Is St. Joseph's Residence right for my loved one?
Deciding when the time is right for yourself or a loved one is a personal decision that depends on many factors. Some questions to consider: is it becoming difficult to move around the house safely? Are medicine doses being missed? Have bills been increasingly forgotten? Are meals routinely forgotten?
If you answered yes to one or more of these, it may be time to consider assisted living with St. Joseph's Residence.
A note on level of care we provide. St. Joseph's Residence is licensed as a Type A assisted living facility. This means we are a wonderful fit for residents who are largely independent and ambulatory but need some help with daily tasks and are able to respond to an emergency on their own (for example, evacuating without physical assistance). Unfortunately, we are not licensed to provide skilled nursing care or memory care.
What does it cost to live at St. Joseph's Residence?
As a ministry of the Diocese of Dallas dedicated to serving low-income seniors, affordability is central to who we are. See our Floor Plans page for current rates by room type, or call us directly with questions about your specific situation.
What is included in a resident's monthly stay?
Every resident's monthly stay includes a private room, three daily meals, weekly laundry service, and weekly housekeeping with fresh towels, linens, and room cleaning. We also provide medication management, along with access to daily spiritual offerings and our full calendar of events and activities. Residents also enjoy Mary's Library, an interior courtyard, a covered patio, and picturesque landscaped gardens within a secure perimeter. For room types and current rates, see our Floor Plans page.
How do I schedule a tour or begin the admission process?

What makes St. Joseph's Residence different?
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in south Dallas, St. Joseph's Residence has served vulnerable seniors since 1955 as a ministry of the Bethlemite Sisters and the Diocese of Dallas. We combine attentive daily care with a genuine community life, a home where residents are a name and a story, not a room number.
